Introduction

Due to the numerous questions from students of USRN ElitesReview and the general public regarding the recent circulating information about the duration of ATT being 75 Days. USRN ELITES would like to give brief information about the current issues with the Duration of ATT.

Understanding the Authorization to Test (ATT)

The Authorization to Test (ATT) is a pivotal step in the licensure process for nurses who would want to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). It is a formal document issued by a USA State’s Board of Nursing that grants permission to an individual to take the NCLEX. Passing the NCLEX is mandatory for anyone seeking licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the USA.

Duration for the ATT.

Each State in the USA has its own independent Board OF nursing (BON), that gives ATT to nurses who register with them in order to write the NCLEX.

While the process of becoming a Licensed Nurse may seem daunting, one of the primary components is the Duration of the ATT.

This Blog will explore the significance of the ATT, its duration, and the steps to ensure a smooth journey towards becoming a registered with TEXAS BON. We will limit ourselves to Texas BON because of their recent changes with their ATT Duration.

Once you register with Texas BON, and all documents are successfully reviewed with no issues, Pearson Vue will send you an email verification giving you the authorization to test (ATT) and instructions on scheduling the test. Your ATT is valid for 75 days from the ATT start date to take the exam. You can read further from TEXAS BON WEBSITE.

It is crucial to pay attention to the expiration date on the ATT, as failing to take the exam within the stipulated time frame will require reapplication to the Texas BON.

Steps to Obtain the ATT

Submitting the Licensure Application: The first step towards obtaining the ATT is to submit the licensure application through the Texas Board of Nursing's online portal. Ensure that all required information and supporting documents are included.

Verification of Education: The Texas BON will verify the applicant's educational background and determine eligibility for the NCLEX. This verification process can take several weeks, depending on the volume of applications.

Background Checks: As part of the licensure process, applicants may need to undergo criminal background checks. These checks may extend the overall processing time for the ATT.

Wait for ATT Issuance: Once all the requirements are met, and the application is approved, the Texas BON will issue the ATT with the designated validity period.

Conclusion

The Authorization to Test (ATT) duration is a crucial aspect of the licensure process for nurses in Texas. Understanding the significance and time frame of the ATT is essential to ensure a smooth journey towards becoming a licensed nurse. Aspiring nurses should be diligent in submitting a complete and accurate application and fulfill any additional requirements promptly to expedite the ATT issuance. With the right preparation and a solid understanding of the ATT process, aspiring nurses can confidently take the next step towards their rewarding career in healthcare.
